accidental classicism--transparent composition
at the intersection of main and gerrard a deciduous tree framed by conifers, repeated by the barrelled arch roof of the ice rink framed by trees and the metal poles in the foreground. all viewed through the transparent screen of the security rail and street car booth. and on this day to top it all an orange road cone.

wall garden--sculpture
topiary-garden against a wall at yonge and bloor.
the construction material giving the whole scene a found or accidental sculpture-garden association.
accidental temple
the structural framing on the west wall of an office building east of front street sherbourne. the exposed brick pilasters alternating with the wall surfaces gives the west side of the building the appearance of a simple classical temple. the buildings other facades have a stripped down classical design but the west side is most marked by it.
the brick pilasters have been set so their faces are in line with the face of the wall between them. the change in material from brick to a capital of stone is the detail that crosses the line between generic structure and clearly marks them as classical.

townscape--roofscape
the roofscape north of bloor at walmer road.
the glass roof over the external stairs to the offices above the shops breaks the eaves line of the building and repeats the line of the rooves of the houses behind.
