alexander cozens — a new method of landscape drawing

"rule one. to make drawing ink. procure the following articles.

lamp-black, in a small barrel, from the oil shop. two or three ounces of finely powdered gum arabic, from the apothecary; keep this very dry. writing ink. half pint tin pot. a middling sized bristle brush, to be had at the colour shop.

put a little of the gum into the tin pot; add writing ink, as much as will make it a paste; mix it very well with the brush. add lamp-black upon the point of a knife, or shake it out of the barrel a little at a time, till it becomes as thick as it can be managed when mixed. add a little more writing ink, and mix it well."

a walk along a wall on the isle of wight. a person films thits walk along the length of a muddy drainage ditch at the base of a haha wall. at the end of the walk the person seems to try and enter an opening in the wall.

roses of heliogabalus

videos of pantheon in rome showing a strange ritual on the anniversary of the day nero had christian martyrs smothered to death with the petals of roses.

and there is the more believable tale of a young roman noble man suffocated under rose petals at one of heliogabalus's banquets. laid to rest two thousand years ago no name on his sarcophagus and when that was opened his perfectly preserved body found in those same rose petals that smothered him.

water the destroyer, the element that takes its time attacking the works of man.
how many years did it look for a weak place in the dam and then slowly work away at that one flaw increasing it over many years until it undermined enough material to allow it to enlarge its area of attack, never giving away what it is doing until too late to fight back.

following quote is taken from gertrude steins first lecture of four on social engineering titled narration. in this lecture she lays the ground for what follows in the other three. here she explains how long it takes to change society

"it is a rather curious thing that it should take a hundred years to change anything that is to change something, it is the human habit to think in centuries and centuries are more or less a hundred years ...

it is the human habit to think in centuries from a grandparent to a grandchild because it just does take about a hundred years for things to cease to have the same meanings that they had before, ...

so then there we are a hundred years does more or less make a century and this is determined by the fact that it includes a grandparent to a grandchild and that that is what makes it definitely different one time from another time ...

a hamster attacks, chews on a sandle and draws blood from a hand that got too close to its teeth. a honey badger attempts to emulate, but dosnt live up to the ferociousness of the hamster.

the best thing to come out of the molecular gastronomy movement, i can't say not having tasted honey bubbles and never having tried spherefication. but if i do try spherefication it will be honey bubbles i make.

we need more ways of eating honey.

goldfish everywhere

alberta high school surveillance

it was the late 1970s at st. joseph's roman catholic seperate high school in grande prairie alberta. principle dunne was spying on mr. mac donald because of mac donald's comments in class. that's what mr. mac donald said one day in class.

mac donald had been a football player in college and was going to go professional sports when he decided to become a teacher and mould young people's minds. who he was moulding those minds for was the information headquarters wanted.

he would talk about things and add to them as if to get a conversation started, students saying things he could pass on to someone else for some later use. one of the girls in class got pregnant, arlene hesse, he made it sound like a great thing. have kids young and a career later. as if promoting everyone should have kids while in teens. putting ideas in students heads. parents began to call the principles office to verify what they were hearing at home.

mac donald would check the intercom when he came in and sometime again before class started to make sure it was off. students noticed this and one day said to a couple of other students it was dunne who turned it on so he could listen in on what was said in the class. according to mac donald it wasn't only him mr. dunne was spying on, other teachers had noticed this happening to them.

mr. mac donald thought principle dunne was spying on him, and me, i was watching all of them and i think he had some reasons to think that way.

highly entertaining though. enjoyable to see some of my harasseurs are keeping busy when not waiting in malls and on street corners for me.
