carry on composting, that blog or web site devoted to compost, the living layer of ground. found it during a google image search for compost piles. the photo, of an out of control compost heap, led to the section of the website comparing neat and tidy piles with mere heaps. the writer at the blog thought better of piles than heaps.
i've always thought the heap school of composting more attractive than the well kempt pile. and an out of control compost heap with things growing from it looks like it can barely contain its fertile energies. if a gardener is not short on compost a heap can be a decorative element rather than practical need in the garden.
